What's in a Buddhist Name?

I received my Buddhist name at the Precept-Taking Ceremony this past Sunday.

Read all about it at my Buddhist blog, Buddha Mama Sans Drama.

  2. Hello,You can assume a Buddhist name for some personal reasons, and for most individuals their own particular reason will be diverse to the following individual. Ordinarily you undertake a Buddhist name to demonstrate that you are dedicated to the Three Refuges (Buddha, Dhamma and Sangha) and that you are focused on the 5 precepts. In basic terms that implies you are focused on leaving a life focused around the Buddhist teachings – a life of virtue, honesty, compassion and dedicated to your own particular improvement as an individual and in addition the welfare of others. For me it was my method for certifying what I feel in my heart, the way my life is and what I'm committed to.
