lol ... you do not.One day it will just happen. At least that is what my husband tells me .. you see, he used to teach people how to meditate. I think I was his one failure.
I am guessing that your post (which I am about to read) will not teach me how to meditate. Then again, I may not be teachable. After two years of yoga and two library books on meditation, I still can't do it.
@a Broad: It was actually a joke. My struggle is more with attending temple than with meditating. ;-)@The Sweetest: It's really quite easy. Just start with palatable chunks, say five minutes at a time and don't worry if your mind wanders. That's what my teachers have shown me and it helps to know we're supposed to be human and messy.
I think a lot of people don't understand the actual purpose of meditation. It is not trying to zone out into nothing ,like sleeping .The goal is becoming aware of the present moment. -The power of Now- by Eckert Tolle is a good book. -Guitar Zen- by Philip Toshio Sudo- is a great book that can be applied to everyday life and helps you understand meditation. I just picked it up and well worth the 14 bucks for a wealth of information.
I am so tired I typed the name of the book backwards...it's called - Zen Guitar- )
